Refurbishment of the first and second tier corridors, boxes and ground floor West entrance was undertaken without disruption to the Halls very busy schedule which included daytime rehearsals, matinee and a Royal performance.

The corridors included demolishing existing lath and plaster ceilings, installation of new services and fitting a lighting cornice, pelmet and soffit. The walls received extensive preparation before being painted and stencilled, new lobby and corridor doors were fitted and received oak graining to replicate original features and new flooring was fitted throughout.

Major preparation was required within the boxes before decorations could be carried out. These works had to be coordinated with the demand for seating space and carefully managed to ensure that completed areas were handed back in time.

The West entrance received a new soffit, lighting and decorations with the walls having to be re plastered prior to painting and stencilling. During these works the entrance remained open for public.
